Reports to: Director of Philanthropy

Salary Range: $50,000 - $55,000 on a full time basis

Time Commitment: Full-time, with occasional evening meetings with our India colleagues may be required throughout the year.

Summary:

As Upaya’s Development Associate you will be the organizational glue that keeps our US team together and shows a friendly face to our donors. You’ll love this job if you are detail and data-oriented, love customer service, and are committed to ending global poverty.

Key Responsibilities:

Donor Operations

• Processing gifts through Salesforce, thanking donors promptly, maintaining weekly reconciliation with our accounting team

• Salesforce analysis, helping to prioritize fundraising activities 

• Researching individual and institutional donors

• Drafting grant reports

• Running errands locally, as needed, like periodically collecting mail or accessing items from our storage unit

• Project managing our annual gala and supporting volunteer efforts 

Organization Support

• Support the Director of Philanthropy in scheduling and preparing for major donor meetings, conferences, and donor calls.

• Participating in an all-team meeting where you hear about the newest partner entrepreneur and how they are generating jobs for people in extreme poverty.

Qualifications:

• Some development experience is a plus, even on a volunteer basis

• Comfort with technology (Google docs, social media, productivity tools, Salesforce a plus); demonstrated ability and interest in data analysis

• Proven ability to be self-directed, track details, and know when to ask questions

• Experience with international development a plus

• Comfort with rolling up your sleeves to get things done, using technology to make life easier, and thinking outside the box.
