Technical Lead - GTM / Market Access

Summary:
Upaya has joined the ClimaFii Alliance to support and fund mid-growth stage startups/SMEs (“businesses”) that are enabling access of clean/renewable energy innovations to micro-entrepreneurs. We’re looking to work with businesses in this space who are also enabling market linkages for these micro-entrepreneurs, through buy-back arrangements. In this program we will focus on renewable energy innovations in sectors such as Food, Agriculture & Allied, Waste Management & Circularity, Textiles and others.
The accelerator will be a 10 month capacity building program which will focus on three key aspects:
● Enabling deployment and adoption of renewable energy innovations at scale
● Creating market linkages to supply products/commodities sourced from micro-entrepreneurs to large corporates
● Driving capital to the start-ups/SMEs
We are looking for a full-time Technical Lead to work directly with a cohort of 10 start-ups/SMEs to drive Go-to-Market (GTM) / market linkage partnerships at two levels:
● Supply-chain partnerships to unlock access to networks and communities of micro-entrepreneurs
● Market linkages through corporate partnerships / institutional sales / business development
This position will be supported by a Consultant, who will work closely with the Lead Consultant to deliver the strategy. The Lead Consultant will be responsible for the following KPIs for all 10 businesses in the cohort:
● Market Connects: At least one completed transaction with a corporate buyer
● Supply Chain Partnerships: At least one conversion where deployment of clean/renewable energy or Distributed Renewable Energy (DRE) innovation has been completed through the (supply chain) partner
Key Responsibilities:
● Market Linkages (corporate partnerships / institutional sales / business development)
Identifying relevant partners based on products/commodities
Secure B2B partnerships through outreach and relationship building
Enabling pilot tractions with cohort businesses with an intent to build consistent relationship between the two parties
● Customised support to businesses on GTM strategy
Work with the cohort to develop a cohesive GTM strategy
Work with the cohort to identify the target market for expansion based on the product/commodities
Support the cohort to identify and develop their strategy for expanding the micro-entrepreneur network (based on the sector and renewable energy innovation)
● Supply-chain partnerships
Identify on-ground partnerships that can unlock a large network / community of micro-entrepreneurs who can adopt and make productive use of renewable energy innovations
Support the cohort businesses to leverage these networks and expand their customer base
Skills, Experience & Qualifications:
We are looking for a Lead Consultant with overall 12-15 years of experience. Graduates / Post-Graduates with relevant experience and skills are invited to apply.
Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal)
Self-starter, with demonstrated ability to thrive in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment
Outcomes driven and highly organised
Demonstrated ability to strategize and execute with multiple stakeholders
Working knowledge of building GTM strategies for businesses
Working closely with the start-up or SME ecosystem
Prior experience working in institutional sales / business development
Working knowledge of foundations/networks working with micro-entrepreneur communities
Preference for those having context of Distributed Renewable Energy innovations for farming/rural/micro-entrepreneur communities
Preference for those having a background in any of the focus sectors - Food, Agri & Allied, Waste Management & Circularity, Textiles
