Textile Waste Management
Technical Assistance Facility
We have set up a Textile Waste Management Technical Assistance Facility (TAF) for sanitation worker-first enterprises in India to meaningfully engage with textile waste and support circularity in fashion.
Through the TAF, we will support three high potential waste management organizations in setting up and demonstrating successful textile waste management business models that can then be replicated and scaled in other geographies.
Our Goal
To build an ecosystem for textile waste management in India by supporting sanitation worker-first waste management enterprises.
Upaya’s Textile Waste Technical Assistance Facility was launched in March 2024 with the support of Laudes Foundation. Headquartered in Zug, Switzerland, Laudes Foundation provides partners with philanthropic capital, expertise, and connections and works with and through industries to catalyze systems change.

The TAF aims to build the ecosystem for textile waste management in India by supporting sanitation worker-first waste management enterprises. Our enterprise partners are the agents of change to create dignified jobs for people in extreme poverty alongside a more sustainable and just economy. From our investments in the waste management ecosystem we have learnt that worker-first waste management enterprises need access to capital, networks, knowledge, and technology to grow. We are committed to providing this technical assistance to the enterprise partners till they become self-sustaining.
